QR codes on flyers and posters: how to track which ones work
Print runs are expensive and untrackable, unless each batch carries its own dynamic QR code.
Give each placement its own code
Create one dynamic code per distribution channel: campus board, café counter, mailbox drop. They can all point to the same landing page. The scan counters then tell you which channel deserves the next print budget.
Rotate the campaign, keep the flyer
When the promotion ends, edit the destination to the next offer rather than pulling posters down. Posters that are still up keep producing traffic instead of 404s.
Design for scanning at a distance
Rule of thumb: the code should be about one tenth of the distance people scan from. A poster scanned from 1 metre needs a 10 cm code. High contrast, a quiet zone of white space around the code, and a clear call to action ('Scan for the schedule') all raise scan rates.
Check it before the print shop
Scan the digital proof with a phone, then scan the first physical copy. Verify the destination loads over mobile data. Only then approve the run.
